结合燕京大学的发展概述了教会大学在中国近百年的始末。它大概经历传教办学、改革、非基督教运动及收回教育权运动、中国化及世俗化、迁移、合并六个阶段。其中,因经济、政策、文化观念及西方传教发展形势等因素的影响,教会大学于20世纪初20年发展得很好。在此发展历程中其办学目标、课程、教师及行政管理人员、经费等方面的变化体现日益中国化的特点。除此,教会大学还留给中国很多影响和思考。
Combined with the development of Yanjing University outlined the history of the Church in China in the past century. It probably went through six stages: missionary education, reform, non-Christianity and the right to recall education, Chineseization and secularization, migration and merger. Among them, due to economic, policy, cultural values and the situation of Western missionary development and other factors, the Christian University in the early 20 century, developed very well. In this course of development, the changes of its educational goals, curricula, teachers, administrative staff and funds reflect its increasingly Chinese characteristics. In addition, the Church University still left a lot of influence and reflection on China.
