本文通过问卷调查和英语词汇测试的方式,对苏北地区英语教育状况进行了个案调查。调查结果显示,50名受访对象作为苏北优秀初中毕业生的代表,有极高的英语学习热情和学习动机;他们对教师的教学普遍感到满意;他们学习英语的主要途径是教材,很少通过其他途径学习英语;他们的英语词汇量平均为1661个词,高于苏北地区的平均水平,低于南京、苏州地区的平均水平。英语教育资源的缺乏和使用率低,使得学生听说能力相对比较弱,英美文化知识比较欠缺。
Through questionnaire survey and English vocabulary testing, this article conducts a case study on the status of English education in Northern Jiangsu. The survey results show that 50 respondents are representatives of outstanding junior high school graduates in northern Jiangsu and have a high level of English learning enthusiasm and motivation; they are generally satisfied with the teaching of teachers; their main approach to learning English is teaching materials. Learn English in other ways; their average English vocabulary is 1661 words, which is higher than the average level in northern Jiangsu and lower than the average level in Nanjing and Suzhou. The lack of English education resources and the low utilization rate make the students’ listening and speaking abilities relatively weak, and the lack of English and American cultural knowledge.
