Objective To investigate the effect and significance of ethanol on lipid peroxidation and ATPase activity in liver of mice. Methods Sixty mice were randomly divided into three groups: high, medium and low dose groups and one control group. After exposure to different doses of 3 doses for 3 d, the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and Dialdehyde (MDA) content and Na + -K + -ATPase activity, Ca2 + -Mg2 + -ATPase activity determination. Results Compared with the control group, the activity of SOD and GSH-Px in liver tissue of mice in ethanol-treated group decreased significantly and the concentration of MDA significantly increased (P <0.01). Compared with the control group, The activity of ATPase in the exposed group showed a significant decreasing trend, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.01). Conclusion Ethanol-induced lipid peroxidation and decreased ATPase activity in mouse liver may be one of the mechanisms of ethanol-induced liver dysfunction.
