最近,日本动力反应堆核燃料开发企业集团,在世界上首次开发出船用等多用途自动线性超导垂直搬运装置,并试验成功。这是人们研究将有放射性废物安全运送到地下深部这一课题所取得的成果,自动超导垂直搬运装置是在日本富山大学水野弘教授指导下,由日本三菱重工业公司神户造船厂负责制造的。自动超导垂直搬运装置内直径260厘米,外直径270厘米,高约7米,整座装置呈圆筒型。该装置内部装有40厘米高,3层单一和组合式的磁电枢。运送密封舱内直径200厘米,外直径250厘米,重量为18公斤。另外,装置内部还装有氦气冷却铌钛超导磁石。
