At Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, solid-state heat capacity lasers (SSHCL) project after several generations of laser research and development efforts, the current performance has been close to 100kW. This project is one of many projects designed to use laser power for directional energy weapons. All of these projects have many common technical obstacles to overcome, making technical solutions viable. This article will discuss in depth the general issues of high-energy laser technology and technology approaches. Although the design of SSHCL is relatively simple, there are still many technical challenges that have not been revealed in the completion of this particular system. This article will give a review of these projects and their technological innovations. SSHCL entire system design, technical advantages, disadvantages and recent experimental results will be given one by one.
