2004年2月和4月，广西、广东一来一往两个高规格的互访考察，标志着泛珠三角经济区建设的正式启航。泛珠三角经济区的提出已有一年。一年来，区域内的九省区融入泛珠三角经济区呈九龙入海之势，掀起了南中国经济建设新热潮。泛珠背景下的两广经贸合作，已经从过去广东对口帮扶广西，逐步发展到一个按照市场经济操作、谋求互利共赢的新局面。
In February and April 2004, Guangxi and Guangdong paid a visit to two high-level visits to each other, marking the official start of the Pan-Pearl River Delta Economic Zone. Pan-Pearl River Delta Economic Zone has been proposed for one year. In the past year, the integration of the nine provinces and autonomous regions in the region into the Pan-Pearl River Delta Economic Zone has taken Kowloon into the sea and set off a new upsurge of economic construction in southern China. The Guangdong-Guangdong economic and trade cooperation in the context of the Pan-Pearl River Delta has been helping Guangxi in the past with Guangdong counterparts and gradually developing a new phase of seeking mutual benefits and win-win results in accordance with market economy operations.
