我段地处沿海开放地区，全段22个车站、一个乘务所，承担着三市十县，占分局65％的货运任务。自1984年兴办多种经营以来，我们因地制宜，大力拓展仓储服务，促进运输生产发展，取得了显著的经济效益和社会效益。目前，公司拥有营业仓库20512平方米，经营网点11个，从业人员204人，固定资产11.6万元。实现利润1985年28万元，1986年31万元，1987年48万元，1988年166万元，今年上半年达91万元，为年计划的75.9％。几年来，我们从多种经营企业的自有资金中，投资250万元，新建生活水塔一座，职工住宅600多平方米，幼儿园一所，改建危房14户，修整湛江北、文地等中间站的供水设施，为47个扳道房添置了电扇等，还安排了169名待业青年就业。
