Magnetic particle inspection is one of the main methods of non-destructive testing. It is widely used in the aircraft manufacturing industry and other machinery manufacturing industries because of its simplicity of equipment, ease of operation, high inspection efficiency, and its sensitivity to surface and near-surface flaw detection. In order to meet the needs of the modern aviation industry and ensure the flight safety, a great deal of work has been done on the basic theories, inspection techniques, equipment materials and acceptance criteria of the magnetic particle inspection by American aircraft manufacturing companies (hereinafter referred to as U.S. companies).
