Ancient peoples in northeastern Asia and northwestern America have rich and varied pottery making techniques. The substance used to make the pottery is the clay near the place of residence. Ancient inhabitants of the Sea of Okhotsk used pure clay to make pottery; ancient inhabitants of both sides of the Bering Strait were accustomed to incorporating organic and inorganic substances into the clay as additives when making pottery. At that time, the molds were already used and mastered the “ring shape” technique. When roasting the billet, there is no special equipment, only on the bonfire, so the firing of the pottery is not strong enough. Pottery products along the Okhotsk Sea coast and pottery products along the coast of the Bering Sea have different traditions. Chukchi eastern coastal areas and Alaska western coastal areas have the same pottery crafts.
