Different monitoring techniques were compared in three Quebec apple orchards to evaluate their reliability as tools for estimation of plum curculio activity or damage to fruit.Adult activity was monitored for four weeks starting at fruit set, and damage to fruit was assessed by examination of apple fruitlets during the same period.Adult captures obtained by means of a classical limb tapping technique were compared to those from pyramidal traps adapted from those developed for the pecan weevil, Curculio caryae (Hom) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae).
