The natural ageing (NA) effect on the age-hardening potential during subsequent artificial ageing (AA) at 180℃ and at 250℃ is found being respectively negative and positive in a Mg-rich Al-Mg-Si alloy.Transmission electron microscopy reveals that the proportion of β" phases increases while that of hardening βphase decreases with prior NA time in the alloy aged at 180℃.The scenario is reverse when aged at 250℃.
