Background: HIV-1 integrase (IN), which responsible for strand transfer (ST) reaction by inserting the viral DNA into host cell DNA, has become an important target for antiviral drug discovery. However, mutants have emerged, such as N155H/S, which confer resistance to FDA approved diketo-acid (DKA) drugs (RAL, EVG, DTG) and other DKA inhibitors.
