Gold leaching with thiosulfate lixiviant is an alternative non-cyanide option for treating carbonaceous or copper-bearing gold ores.A technology was developed to recover gold from the pregnant solutions by adding ferrous ions and co-precipitating gold together with iron hydroxides.Bench scale experiments indicated that the process performed well with or without the de-aeration step.A complete gold recovery could be reached in a few seconds and the barren solution is free of foreign contaminants and ready to be recycled.
