We prepared Li and Mn co-doped NiO thin films (LixNi0.97-xMn0.03O,x=0-0.10) by a sol-gel spin-coating method on silicon substrates. The Mn 2p core-level photoemission and X-ray absorption spectra indicate that Mn consisted of the Mn2+ and Mn3+ components, and no metallic Mn observed. The current density of the films increased as the Li doping content increasing due to an increase of hole carriers.Magnetization measurements revealed that all the NiO thin films showed room-temperature ferromagnetic properties, and can be enhanced by the Lico-doping,which should be ascribed to the effective exchange interactions between the hole carriers and the magnetic Mn ions.
