The purpose of this study is to know the effects on the infants vocabulary development and communication skills of reading aloud picture books with melody. For this,28 infants who were attending a daycare center located in G region were selected.Half of them were set as the control group while the other half were assigned to the experimental group.Infants of experimental group were in the program of reading aloud picture books with melody which was applied for 10 weeks from March 11th to May 16th of 2013.For the experiment, the infants were told total 5 picture books with melody in the morning and in the afternoon, two times a day.As a result, reading aloud picture books by melody seems to improve the infants vocabulary ability, and there was a significant difference on the infants communication skills between the experimental group and the comparison group. And this implies that more efforts be made to find ways to exploit the infants sensitivity to the visual image and music in improving their language and communication development.
