GABAA receptors are a family of ligand-gated ion channels that are pentamer composed predominantly of alpha, beta, and gamma subunits.They are the major target of the endogenous inhibitory neurotransmitter (GABA) and have been implicated in a variety of brain functions.We have reported a novel GABAA receptor binding protein PRIP.PRIP was originally identified as an inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate binding protein with similar domain organization to phospholipase C-δ but was catalytically inactive, therefore we termed it Phospholipase C-Related Inactive Protein.
