Zinc is known to modulate many important cellular functions including anti-inflammatory responses, and zinc acetate has been used as a therapeutic drug (called Galzin or Wilzin) for medical treatment of Wilsons disease with no or mild side-effect in spite of high dosage. In human T lymphocyte derived cells, zinc acetate significantly suppresses IFN-gamma expression through down-regulation of the calcium-independent PKC-AP-1 pathway.
