Although several investigations on thermodynamic modelling in Al-Mg alloys were carried out, all previous thermodynamic descriptions have not been able to calculate the metastable phase diagrams of ordered GP zones with the L12-type structure.In this study, Calphad type thermodynamic assessment of the Al-Mg alloy was performed to calculate the metastable phase diagram including spinodal lines.The Gibbs energy of the fcc phase was expressed by a four-sublattice model (split compound energy formalism) to deal with not only fcc solid solution but also L12 ordered GP zones.The complete thermodynamic description of the Al-Mg alloy was evaluated by taking into account available experimental data including miscibility gap of GP zones.
