Since the 1980s, translation theory has emerged in an endless stream. Translatological studies transcend the traditional linguistic model. Factors such as patronage, poetics, ideology, power and politics are constantly being included in the study. Interdisciplinary trends are becoming increasingly evident, The translator has shown the prosperity of theory. Post-colonialist perspectives have been used to examine the relationship between translation and power after translation studies have achieved “cultural shift.” This paper will elaborate the impact of postcolonial theory on translation studies at different levels, clarify the main ideas of postcolonial translation theory, discuss the problems caused by it, and predict its development direction.
