Computer-based Language Learning (CBLL) is increasingly applied in language teaching and learning home and abroad. Networking environment is created to foster individualized and autonomous learning adopting technological advantages in multimedia and network. Under the guidance of the new National College English Syllabus and the College English Curriculum Requirements, online courseware development in China has blossomed in recent years for conformity of traditional classroom instruction with multimedia and network technology. However, the evaluation on CBLL hasnt gotten enough attention yet, let alone the presenting of an evaluation framework.This article puts forward an evaluation framework for online courseware on the basis of examination on pedagogically theoretical development and alternative guiding principles in designing courseware based on the application of NCE Online and NHCE Website in China. Technical demands, usability and teachability are paramount perspectives for consideration. Follow-up questionnaire survey is carried out to reflect on users personal evaluation on the two sets of online courseware. The incoming results test the evaluation framework proposed.The objectives of the research are to shed some light on the further production of a scientific evaluation framework to facilitate online courseware design and development. Besides, detailed implications of the survey could be taken into account as formative evaluation for online courseware.Keywords: computer-based language learning(CBLL); online courseware; NCE
