Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is a syndrome caused by circulating antibodies and is thought to be associated with increased platelet-associated IgG, IgM, C_3 (PAIgG, PAIgM, PAC_3). Recent studies have shown that microparticles released from platelets (MP) may have a potential functional role for ITP. To this end, the authors used flow cytometry 56 patients with ITP determination of plasma platelet-related Ig and anti-platelet antibody-related MP levels. Meanwhile, in order to understand the relationship between MP formation and glycoprotein (GP) autoantibodies, GP antibodies were also assayed in these patients. All patients had a reduction in platelet counts but normal or elevated megakaryocytes with no evidence of other types of immune thrombocytopenia. No history of blood transfusions. Plasma platelet PAIgG, IgM, C_3 and MP levels were detected by immunofluorescence. MP detection divided into two different stimulation system
