实践大学设计学院的诞生,酝酿于台湾社会骚动的20世纪90年代。在人心意识丕变、产业经济蓬勃、改革旗帜高举的氛围下,整个社会较过去展现出更果敢的心态来接受各式各样的新实验与新探索,促使一群始于传统艺术教育,继而在欧美文化熏陶下成长的战后第二代知识分子,重新对台湾的设计艺术教育进行反思、批判与实验。不同于既有升学主义式的填鸭学制,实践设计学院更强调人文内涵的养成,结合艺术、工艺与科技,鼓励学生通过跨领域合作与实务操作,来发现、思考与解决问题。随着“设计美学”在亚洲变迁社会与产业中的角色日益加重,实践大学设计学院过去十年所积累的教学与互动经验,或可成为华人设计史中具“包豪斯特征”的一页篇章。
The birth of the Design University College of Design is brewing in the twentieth century 90’s in Taiwan social turmoil. Under the climate of changing people’s ideology, a thriving industrial economy and a high banner of reform, the whole society has demonstrated a more daring attitude than in the past to accept various new experiments and new explorations and to promote a group of people who began with traditional arts education and then The second generation of intellectuals who grew up under the influence of European and American cultures re-examined, criticized and experimented with the design art education in Taiwan. Different from the existing academic-based system, the Institute of Practical Design places more emphasis on the cultivation of humanistic connotations. It combines art, technology and technology to encourage students to discover, think and solve problems through cross-cutting cooperation and practical operation. With the increasing role of “Design Aesthetics ” in the changing society and industry in Asia, the practice and experience of teaching and interaction accumulated in the past ten years by the University Design Institute can become a symbol of Bauhaus "A page of the chapter.
