The development of the air transport industry Under the tide of reform and opening up, China's civil aviation has entered a new period of accelerated development from the mid-1980s. In 1995, the total turnover of transport was 7.14 billion ton-kilometers, with passenger traffic of 51.12 million and cargo-mail traffic of 1.01 million tons, up 16.4, 12.9 and 13.4 times respectively over 1980, with an average annual increase of 20.6%, 18.6% and 17.6%.
