莨菪类药包括阿托品、东茛菪碱、山茛菪碱、樟柳碱、红古豆碱等。据本草纲目记载,它亦名天仙子,其子服之,令人狂浪放荡,因而得名“莨菪”。这类药物有共同的母体结构,故具抗胆碱能的共同特性,但它们又存在各自结构的相互差异,因此又有各自的特点。例如:兴奋中枢作用东莨菪碱较强;抑制腺体分泌作用阿托品较强等等。由于莨菪类药在临床应用中疗效独特,使用安全[有效量与致死量相差数十至数百倍,在治疗剂量内对脑、心、肝、肾无损],因此临床应用范围正在迅速扩大,迄今在临床多科计七十余种疾病的治疗中已获得了较好疗
