自古以来,燃放烟花爆竹(简称“放花爆”)就是中国人的一种习俗和传统。人们常说,爆竹声声辞旧岁,炯花怒放迎新春。当然,不仅在过年,在喜庆的日子里,人们也喜欢放花爆,增加一些喜庆的气氛。据史书记载,放花爆在隋唐时已经出现,宋朝时开始盛。《武林旧事》一书对放花爆有记载,说那时放焰火还用架子,呈现出不同造型,很是美丽和壮观等等。鸦片战争以后,上海出现了租界,便开始有了禁放花爆的规定,直到今日。
