The authors used cochlear profiling to make specimens that were stained with silver nitrate to observe the cell structure of the vestibular membrane (Reissner’s membrane) under a light microscope. The specimens were taken from dead bodies within 10 hours after the death, a total of 20 cases (40 ears) aged from 1 to 90 years old.
