The isotopic studies of lead, sulfur, oxygen and hydrogen in the rock and gold deposits in the Xionzaishan area, western Henan Province, show that although the types of gold deposits in this area are different and the properties of ore-hosting rocks are not consistent, the ore-forming materials mainly come from the basement The Archean Taihua Group metamorphic rocks, the ore-forming hydrothermal fluids originated from the Yanshanian granitoids magmatic hydrothermal activities, and the gold deposits were mixed with atmospheric water during the ore-forming stage. The fundamental reason for the differences in sulfur isotopic composition between different gold deposits and even the same deposit at different mineralization stages in this area is not controlled by the physical and chemical conditions of hydrothermal fluids and their changes but rather by sulfur sources.
