Objective To investigate the quality of life (QOL) in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods The WHOQOL-100 scale was used to measure the QOL of 167 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and normal controls (1: 1 matching). The differences of quality of life were analyzed by t test, χ2 test, Hotelling T2 test and multivariate analysis of variance . Results The quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes was significantly lower than that of the control group (P <0.01) in physiology, psychology, independence ability, social relations, environmental field and QOL-100 total score. After the miscellaneous effects of other diseases were adjusted, Six areas score and QOL-100 total score were lower than the control group. Hotelling T2 test and multivariate analysis of variance showed that the quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and the control group were significantly different from the six fields and further showed that the overall quality of life of diabetic patients was lower than that of the normal control group. Conclusion The quality of life of diabetic patients decreased significantly. Quality of life measures can evaluate the effect of diabetes treatment and health education, as an important reference for clinicians choose treatment options.
