On November 19, the China-Middle East & North Africa (Morocco) International Trade Digital Expo, hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and undertaken by the China Chamber of International Commerce, opened in Beijing. This exhibition is a pragmatic measure to deepen economic and trade cooperation between China and the Middle East and North Africa under the new COVID-19 epidemic. The 10-day exhibition aimed to make full use of the Internet and cloud technology to innovate exhibition service models and foreign trade negotiation methods, support Chinese foreign trade companies to stabilize orders, expand markets, and promote economic and trade exchanges between China and the Middle East and North Africa countries.
Ke Liangdong, Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Mao Jun , Chargé d’affaires from the Chinese Embassy in the Kingdom of Morocco, Reda Idrissi, Economic Counsellor of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in China, Mehdi Laraki, President of Morocco Chinese Business, Hassan Hashemi, Vice President of Council Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. More than 300 representatives of the Middle East and North Africa National Chamber of Commerce, representatives of Chinese and foreign entrepreneurs institutions and media attended the opening ceremony offline and online.
Ke Liangdong said in his speech that CCPIT will continue to leverage its unique advantages in linking up with the governments and companies, and communicating with internal and external parties, and work together with all parties to create a better platform for Chinese and Middle Eastern and North African companies to carry out trade and investment activities.
Mao Jun said that China is one of Morocco’s most important exporters in the fields of textile machinery and electrical goods. At present, the diversified cooperation system between the two countries is being formed at an accelerated pace. New energy, digital economy, health, industrial park construction and management, infrastructure, trade promotion, etc. are expected to become priority areas of cooperation between the two sides. Reda Idrissi said that investors can not only regard Morocco as a national market, but it also can serve as a gateway to Africa, Europe, and the Gulf region. In recent years, Morocco has signed 55 free trade agreements. Mehdi Laraki said that Morocco is a country with very stable economic and political environment. In recent years, it has also taken a series of measures to promote economic development and industrial diversification. China is already the world’s second largest economy and has the world’s largest foreign exchange reserves. It has a lot of cooperation with Morocco in energy, electronics, solar, and wind energy. It is hoped that the cooperation between the enterprises of the two countries will be further strengthened for common development and mutual benefit. Hassan Hashemi said that China is one of Dubai’s most important trading partners, and the non-oil trade between the two countries is also increasing. The participation of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in this exhibition itself also reflects its long-term strategic goal, which is to build a bridge between Dubai and Chinese companies, achieve joint efforts to increase efficiency, and explore new areas of economic cooperation.
A total of more than 1,200 companies have registered to participate in the exhibition. The categories of exhibits cover building materials, energy and environmental protection, power electronics, auto parts, household products, gifts, agriculture and food, textiles and clothing, and medical care. It has attracted people from the Middle East, North Africa and More than 10,000 trade visitors from other regions went online to visit the exhibition. At the same time, the exhibition will also hold five special matchmaking meetings online, including"Infrastructure and Capacity Cooperation","Food, Agriculture, Tea", "Furniture, Home Decoration and Hotel Appliances", to help relevant exhibitors and buyers to accurately connect and seek business opportunities.
