In order to clarify the load and kinetics of the Shuttle Tail Service Tower (TSMS), design studies and analysis are underway. Of particular interest are the effects of movement and interrogation of shedding connector carriers, guying systems, VJ hoses, locking devices, tie rods, and top of the bracket (trolley). Research test rigs have been designed and manufactured to obtain experimental data for the purpose of (1) verifying dynamic theoretical calculations, (2) demonstrating the perfection of design schemes, (3) demonstrating the existence of structural and structural component designs The scope of the problem (if any). This article describes the development of a pilot test service for the design, manufacture and start-up of a test service tower at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC).
