单位体制曾经是１９５６年以来的中国计划经济和中国传统公有制的特征，中国的改革与社会变迁也就常常表现为单位体制或者说单位制社会的改革和变迁。本文提出，尽管单位在本来意义上是城市社会中公有制体制内人员的组织方式，但是由于社会体制的通贯性、乡村中曾经存在人民公社式的单位变体、改革以来某些村落自发学习城市单位，因此可以尝试从单位或单位化及其变迁的视角来描述、分析在一些村落中发生的变迁。
