The substantial increase in crop yields that can be obtained from deep plowing is a valuable experience that peasants in our country have gained through thousands of years of production practice. Farming proverbs: “deep plowing and adding an inch, top of a stubble” “water is blood, dung is food, deep turning the land to build barns” and so vividly illustrates the significance of deep plowing. In 1958, great achievements were made in the cotton production in our country, creating many large-scale and high-yielding experiences, which are inseparable from the comprehensive measures such as deep plowing, combined with massive fertilization and close planting. In 1958 cotton plowing, generally 4 - 5 inches from the past, deepened to 6 - 8 inches, in many high-yield test fields, as well as to deepen the plow to more than 1 foot. According to surveys of deep-plowing experiments conducted in various places in 1958, it has been consistently proved that the effect of deep plowing on cotton yield is significant. Like a mountain
