I. INTRODUCTION The normal operation of open-air treatment structures in cold areas is undoubtedly a bold attempt in our country. At the same time, it also brings great economic benefits. The accelerating clarifier in the Raw Water Pretreatment System of Daqing Fertilizer Plant was introduced in the 1970s by the United States “L•A” water treatment company. The device was completed and put into production in the year 76, and it has been operating normally for several years. It was not affected by the low temperature in the cold regions of northwest Heilongjiang, but it interrupted or caused abnormal operating conditions. The device is one of the supporting clarification tanks that introduced eight sets of synthetic ammonia in the 1970s. There have been special discussions and evaluations of the design and operation process. This article only reports on its winter operation and reports from the heat transfer angle.
