企业和军队从表面上看似乎是两个无所关联的名词,然而二者都是组织,在管理架构和原理上享有许多共同之处,尤其是在对人员的素质要求上。最近我读到几个故事,很有感触。一件事是沃顿商学院的一个受过军事训练的后备军人在读MBA期间被招去伊拉克打仗,回来之后重新回到课堂的感受。他说虽然在MBA的课程中他参加了各种各样的团队项目,但从来都是把自己放在团队的前面,没有真正的团队意识。到了部队里他才真正开始理解团队这个概念,理解个体是团队之一员的意义。部队训练的第一课是在三分钟内叠好被子床单,他动作迅速,每次都在三分钟内完成任务,但如果其他队员动作慢,不能按时完成任务的话,教官就会要求所有的人重新来过。
It seems that the business and the military are superficially two unrelated terms, yet both are organizations that have much in common with the management structure and principles, especially with regard to the quality of personnel. Recently I read a few stories, very touching. One thing is the feeling of a military training reserve officer at Wharton who was recruited to fight in Iraq and returned to class after returning from an MBA.
