近一时期以来,巴勒斯坦裔的美国学者萨依德提出的以“东方主义”命題,及稍后出现的“后殖民主义”理论,亨廷顿所提出的“文明冲突论”等,被一批留学海外的青年学者介绍到中国之后,立即在学术界引起强烈反响,多家学术刊物和新闻媒体都对此发表了大批介绍、评价或研讨的文章。而作为这一学术现象的社会基础,则是在青年知识分子及全社会中普遍出现的对民族主权、民族尊严的维护和对民族传统文化的寻找和复归的倾向,并出现了在中国工业化进程中寻求以传统文化重新整合民族精神的呼声。 这一现象的意义显然已经大大超出了学术的范畤,而对中国社会的现代化进程产生很大的影响,为此,《北京青年报》记者采访了中国社科院文学所汪晖。
