小口径金刚石钻探生产实践证明，合理选择钻进技术参数（转速、钻压、泵量），对提高时效和钻头寿命影响很大，其中冲洗液量是由泥浆泵供给的，对选用泥浆泵要求：1．一般最大流量为75～90升/分；2．能有数种流量变化范围以供选择；3．选定后的流量值应尽量保持稳定不变；4．最大工作压力较高，能满足克服排出管路系统的阻力。特别要注意不能用三通调节回水量的办法，因为这将使泥浆泵的工作性能遭受严重破坏，是发生烧钻的最主要原因。根据上述要求，就能正确选用和改造现有泥浆泵。
