The Book of Job, one of the five volumes in the Bible’s book of wisdom, is tied with Dante’s Divine Comedy and Goethe’s Faust as the trilogy of human exploration of the mystery of itself and the universe. As one of the most outstanding works in Biblical wisdom literature, Job has attracted countless scholars to study it with its unique narrative skills. Modern narratology is “a systematic study of the typical features of narrative texts.” (D. F. Tolmie, 1999) This article uses the modern narratology theory to analyze characters and plots in Job from the perspective of character and plots.
