素质教育,在我看来就是适度教育。可今天中国的基础教育,是“过度化”了的教育。基础教育不过是让一个生物人转化、成长为社会人,可以在人类社会中养活自己、生儿育女,过上普通而平凡的正常人的生活。非要将之与成功、发达等宏伟愿景、远大理想对应起来,对于一个普通的未成年人而言,在现阶段不仅是大而无当、虚幻空洞的,而且将这些成年人正当的理想和抱负庸俗化了,对社会信仰和价值观的构建伤害更大。基础教育,不能包打天下,不能为物质财富和世俗幸福“埋单”。把教育当作是万能 Quality education, in my opinion, is a modest education.
