(I) In a quiet courtyard in Beijing, I visited Ruth Smith, a British expert working in Xinhua News Agency. Ruth Smith, 91, has long been white-haired. However, she looked clear, smiling, more young than the actual age. Elderly, of course, is a sign of experience. The experience is always gradually accumulated. Now, she recalls the era of flourishing. “When I was a young man, I was a reporter for the Daily Worker in Britain, when people said I was a horse.”
