This article is based on a study of 70 patients diagnosed as sliding hiatal hernia by barium meal and endoscopy from 1989 to 1990 and discusses the diagnostic basis of the disease and the value of endoscopy. The number of men and women are similar, aged 16 to 74 years old, duration from a few months to 50 years.
