富有家庭教育传统的中国,历来重视父教的地位和作用,历史上颜之推的家训、曾国藩的家书,堪称父亲角色研究的典范。西方亦然,早在古罗马时期,父亲(尤其是父子关系)的研究就已经为人们所重视。跨入新世纪,经济、社会的新发展要求新型人才必须具备创新、人文等综合素质,而某些素质的培养亟需父亲的投入与参与。因此,在时代的感召下,人们不能不思考父亲角色的定位,人们也不能不看到,一个“新父亲时代”已经到来。
