FERRAGOSTO
The Ferragosto on 15 August is the climax of the Italian holiday season. It is a family occasion that takes place each year on Assumption Day, the day on which the Roman Catholic and Orthodoz churches celebrate the ascent of the Virgin Mary to Heaven.

每年8月十五日的八月节是意大利假期的高峰。家家户户都举行一种叫做“圣母升天日”的活动。罗马天主教的人都共度此节，因为这一天，恰好是圣母玛利亚升天堂的的纪念日。
HUNGRYGHOSTS
In late August, the Chinese celebrate their own version of Halloween, which is the festival of the Hungry, which is the festival of the Hungry Ghosts. Offerings of food and other gifts are burnt to those ghosts who have been released from Hell to roam the earth for a month.

八月下旬，中国人以自己的方式庆祝类似“万圣节”的“饿鬼节”。祭祀活动结束后，人们便将供奉的食品和祭祀物用火焚烧掉，用来慰劳那些从地狱里被释放出来，在人间游历一个月的饿鬼。
