Taking the top 36 athletes in 2008 Beijing Olympic Games women’s gymnastics competitions as the research object, the relationship between the body mass index and athletic performance of elite female athletic gymnasts was discussed. Using multivariate regression analysis of age, BMI and BMI2 and the relationship between sports performance. The results showed an average age of 17.2 (SD = 2.01) and an average body mass index of 17.1 (SD = 1.41). There is a curvilinear relation between BMI and performance of elite female athletes. BMI is lower for elite female athletes and generally lower BMI tends to achieve better athletic performance, but higher or lower BMI will have a negative result influences.
