In this paper, inductively coupled high-frequency plasma emission spectrometry was used to determine the trace elements of lotus seeds and ginkgo; and the content of cyanide was determined by pyribarbituric acid colorimetric method. The results showed that the contents of Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu, Sr and other elements were very abundant in lotus seeds, and the amount of Mn and Zn was higher than that of commonly eaten animal and plant foods. There are traces of cyanide in the lotus meat, which does not hinder health. However, the cyanide in the lotus core is 6.5 times higher than that of lotus. The trace elements in the ginkgo are far lower than the lotus seeds. Ginkgo also contains traces of cyanide, which is higher than lotus meat. The cyanide in white core is 7.2 times higher than that of white pulp.
