An input filter is often used between a switching regulator and its power supply. However, its presence often leads to a decrease in dynamic performance and stability. This detrimental constraint exists between the input filter and the switching regulator as a function of the input filter parameters and supply voltage. A previous paper proposed an analysis and design approach with the goal of studying a feedforward loop to eliminate this unwanted constraint. This paper extends the feedforward design to include a circuit that automatically takes into account changes in the supply voltage; the result is an adaptive compensation method that tracks the variation of the input voltage. This paper presents the test results that demonstrate the adaptive performance of this design.
