In 1956 Camus published his third novel “Fallen.” This novel is different from the “outsider” “plague”, perhaps because of the unique writing style and narrative style, perhaps because of the great changes in the living environment of Camus at the time. This novel is not as highly praised as the first two books. The community criticized its theme. The protagonist Klamans took the turning point of a young girl into a river and turned from a lawyer who acts as a moral savior to a “probation judge” who rescues himself with repentance. The novel by the mouth of 克拉 芒斯 revealed the people were lonely, restless, apathy and other issues, and made a profound reflection on these ethical issues. Ubiquitous moral judgments bring us a world where people and people check and balance each other. There is restraint and protection in checks and balances. How to find a harmonious happiness between the two is a reflection left by us in the novel.
