Objective: To investigate the role of Th17 cells and related cytokines in the pathogenesis of SFTS and its clinical significance by detecting the changes of Th17 cells and related cytokines in peripheral blood of patients with fever and thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS). Methods: A total of 79 patients with newly diagnosed SFTS were enrolled as the SFTS group, and 30 normal persons of the same age and gender matched as healthy control group. Flow cytometry was used to detect the changes of (Th17) cells in the peripheral blood of SFTS group and healthy control group (CD3 + CD8-IL-17 +). Serum levels of IL-17 and IL-23 in each group were detected by ELISA. Results: Compared with the control group, the percentage of Th17 cells and the expression of IL-17 and IL-23 in SFTS group were significantly increased (p <0.05). Conclusion Th17 cells may be involved in the occurrence and development of SFTS.
