Over the past eight years, 3D surface measurement has evolved from a novelty to an important basis for the evaluation of engineering surface properties and has been widely used. Surface topography has a decisive influence on surface properties such as friction, wear, lubrication, corrosion, fatigue, and coating. In order to fully analyze and study the surface characteristics, surface measurement and evaluation should be three-dimensional considerations. In recent years, many of the world’s leading academic groups have been working on a series of three-dimensional surface roughness standards.
