His series of classic works created and translated in English have played a significant role in introducing Chinese culture. The Sixth Anniversary of the Floating Life was originally an autobiographical essay by Shen Fu, a literati in the Qing Dynasty, which involved many traditional Chinese cultures and customs. The translation of Chinese traditional cultural words has always been a great test for the translator. This article analyzes the translation strategies of various cultural words in Lin Yu-tang’s translation of the six chapters of the book.
