The American society from the late nineteenth century to the early twentieth century is in the transitional period of social structure. The rapid economic development will all be commercialized. This article tries to start from the three stratums in Wharton’s novels, that is, the aristocratic celebrities, the newclass and the underclass, exposing the patterns of interpersonal communication among all walks of life in the novel so that the readers can have a better life on all levels of the New York society For in-depth understanding. The famous American author Edith Wharton has been receiving the attention of scholars since the advent of his novel Happy House. In the creative process, Wharton through the creation of different forms of novel
